Hot Buttered O's!

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog!

This week I'm posting a recipe to my all-time favorite snack! I was taught how to make this snack by my mom, and I grew up eating it. Now in college, I make this snack when I'm missing home or when I'm looking for the ultimate comfort food. It's so easy to make and takes less than 5 minutes!

The name "Hot Buttered O's" comes exactly from what you see and taste: the Cheerio's are hot, buttered, and shaped like the letter O! The name is just so fun to say.

Keep reading if you want to learn how you can taste the most delicious treat EVER!

Step 1

Gather your ingredients! All you need are Cheerios, butter, and salt (and a pot to cook in).

Ingredients!

Step 2

Melt some butter in a pot on medium-high heat. We've never measured (usually, we just guess at the amounts of each ingredient, it all comes down to personal preference), but I would estimate that we use about 1-ish tablespoon of butter. Add salt to the melting butter.

Step 3

Once the butter is melted, add the Cheerios. Again, we usually just throw in "what looks right," but I would estimate it to be about 1 cup of Cheerios. Mix the Cheerios into the butter until all of them are coated and the Cheerios are warm, about 3 minutes. Don't stop stirring! If the Cheerios stay too long on the bottom of the pan, they burn quickly.

Step 4

That's it! The Cheerios should be slightly browned. Remove from the heat, pour into a bowl, and enjoy!

Enjoy!

If Cheerios and butter seem like a wacky combination to you, that's okay! But don't let that stop you from trying what is sure to be your new favorite comfort food. I have yet to find anyone who didn't enjoy Hot Buttered O's.

Don't be afraid to adjust the amounts of each ingredient to your preferences. Personally, I love my Hot Buttered O's heavily laden with butter, but I know my family members tend to lighten up on the butter and add more Cheerios instead. It all comes down to what you like!

Let me know if you try this recipe! I would love to hear what you think of it!

Have a fantastic day!
